The Maplewood Historic Preservation Commission has submitted an application to place Maplewood Village on the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places. Placement on the Registers is an honorific designation that adds a property to a list of other properties and places that are of local or national historic significance.
Placement on a register subjects public property and township actions to review. It does not add requirements for private property owners or leasees. More information appears below.
The HPC and Township has announced a public meeting to explain the designation and collect community input:
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Maplewood Historic Preservation Commission will be hosting an informational meeting on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at the Maplewood Municipal Building, 574 Valley Street, Maplewood, New Jersey, beginning at 7:00 p.m. regarding Maplewood Village’s consideration for designation as a Historic Place on the National and New Jersey State Register.
Township public meetings will be available via the Township’s YouTube channel, channel 24 for Verizon customers, and channel 35 for Comcast customers.
